U13s, The New Kid
9th August 2016
Unlike Manchester United who left it late to sign Paul Pogba, Drogheda Boys moved early to secure the hot new prospect Joshua Seberry.

Joshua made his Drogheda Boys debut over the weekend during the Kells Blackwater Tournament. And he has kindly put together an account of how the day went

In the car on the way to the tournament i was anxious. I’m normally never, but this was my first game for my new team – Drogheda Boys. There was a great atmosphere when I arrived. I met up with the team and took shots to break the ice and had good craic before the first game.
Game 1 - The vibe was great s this was my first official game with the squad. It was against Park Villa. They had beaten my last team 2-1 in the National Cup last year. This time we scored 2 goals in the first half and were gaining confidence. They got very frustrated and their coaches were not happy, this meant they were nervous ! They did eventually score in the second half but we defended well and kept the pressure on to win. What a feeling ! Then we all had a break and grabbed some lunch with our parents.
Game 2 – we were on a high, Cavan Celtic. We started pretty strong but the wind was against us. They were aggressive, i got a head butt and bloody nose and play stopped for 1 minute. Now i was having none of it. Our keeper Tom also pulled off some brilliant saves. Half time 0-0. Now the wind was in our favour and we kept the positions which we practiced all week with Johnny. I fed as many balls over the top to the forwards and it all came together and in no time the game ended and it was a 7-1 win. We were on a roll.

Game 3 – now we were a unit and dominated the mid-field. Now i didn’t feel like the new boy, i became my natural self and pulled out some great runs down the wing and crosses and headers became more accurate. I felt now I was part of the team. Just before the final whistle, the icing on the cake, I scored a volley. The perfect end to the day. We were over the moon. I think Johnny was too. What a feeling. Roll on round 2. Drogheda boys have a great season ahead.
