The countdown has officially began. We are only 10 days away from the start of the Iber Cup 2016, hosted in Estoril, Portugal.

With our very own U11 Drogheda Boys team participating in the famous summer tournament, we are extremely excited to follow their progress.

​

Not only will the Boys be representing our club, but they will also be representing our country as they are Irelands only participating club for this age group.

​

Standing in their way of progressing to the knockout stages are two local Portuguese teams SC Leiria e Marrazes and GS Loures. However, the most challenging task in the group stages may well be Reading FC. Many a famous Irish player has represented Reading over the years, with Irelands current No. 9 Shane Long counting among them. Other notable Irish internationals include Kevin Doyle, and Stephen & Noel Hunt.

Should the Boys progress from the group, European giants may well await them in the later stages. Olympique Lyon, Sporting Lisbon, Deportivo La Courna and reigning Europa League holders Sevilla FC are just a few of the famous clubs our Boys could potentially face. And to add an international feel to the tournament, countries such as Brazil, USA, Canada, Korea and Japan will all be represented.

It will be a difficult challenge for the Boys, but no doubt one they will relish. Good luck to Graham and the team.
